About The Artist
Jessica Staple
Jessica lives in Port Elizabeth and is currently lecturing at the Nelson Mandela University Department of Visual Arts. She also offers short courses in printmaking at the Art on Target art school. Since 2016, she has co-directed Black Ink. Collective, a group of artists and educators who offer arts training to school learners and emerging artists. Jessica graduated with a Masters in Visual Arts and BA English Studies Major from Stellenbosch University, where she also worked as an educator, the printmaking technician, facilitated public drawing classes and hosted workshops in collaboration with the SU Museum’s ‘Access to Visual Arts Programme’. In 2018, she received the Rector’s Award as the Top Masters Student in the Academics category in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.
